Life in Oregon is one big, beautiful playground—especially when you’re a family of five with three girls who aren't afraid to get a little dirt (or fish scales) under their fingernails. Taking an RV with three daughters sometimes feels like a daunting amount of work, but waking up to the sound of the Pacific or the sight of Mt. Hood every morning has made every square foot of our "adventure on wheels" worth it.

From the rugged coast to the snowy Cascades, this is how we’re raising our girls to be "wild and free" in the Pacific Northwest.

Coastal Days: Crabbing & Fishing

The Oregon Coast is our second home. We’ve found that the secret to a successful family crabbing trip is all about the "soak." Our favorite coastal crabbing destination is Kelly’s Brighton Marina, the girls have become experts at ensuring the caught crabs don't escape the bucket. There’s nothing like the excitement of pulling up a pot to find it full of Dungeness crab—The daily limit is 12 males per person. Our goal is usually two per person, and on a good day, it only takes 45 minutes to hit our goal.
